Having designed, developed and patented the Safevent window system, which is now the window of choice for the healthcare sector, the future for Britplas is looking bright.
The company, which saw its turnover double last year, has now installed over 10,000 Safevent windows and completed 150 projects in the UK. Not a team to sit back on their laurels, Britplas has just announced the launch of a new slimline aluminium profile offering neater sight lines whilst maintaining outstanding strength and durability and, perhaps most importantly, improved thermal properties, taking u values below 1.9W/m2k.
It was this new profile which helped the company to recently secure two of the largest mental health fenestration projects, both in excess of £3 million. The first is for a new build facility for Tayside NHS, the Murray Royal Hospital, Perth and Stracathro Hospital, Angus and the second an extensive refurbishment project for Leeds PCT.
The company’s unique window system was developed to address issues arising when trying to create a safe environment for patients in secure mental health units. However Safevent windows have many other benefits and are now also being specified by the majority of NHS Trusts and many private healthcare groups for their environmental and cost-saving benefits as the windows allows for maximum natural ventilation, thereby reducing monetary and environmental costs.
The Safevent window comprises a double fronted window and a free sliding internal or external sash. The window has one glazed area and the other is fitted with a stainless steel mesh. The mesh is not visible so delivers security in a sensitive and subtle manner.
The windows are manufactured to an exceptionally high standard and every component can withstand considerable force. The Safevent window is available in aluminium or uPVC and units can be manufactured in virtually any colour. Manual, mechanical and automatic electronic versions are available.
